Performing Arts

Drama, Dance and Music

Welcome back to our Performing Arts page! We hope that you are all doing well in lockdown 6.0!

Firstly an update on the event GALA, unfortunately we are needing to postpone this once again in light of the ever changing situation, we know how much hard work has gone into it from staff and students and this is not a decision we have made easily.

BUT! It will definitely go ahead and the new date is Thursday 2nd of September so please mark it in your calendar!

Recording Studio!

In the last newsletter you were made aware of our artist in residence who is Ming Lang. Ming has been a great asset to our music space and the students are enjoying working with him. Currently Ming is working with a group of selected students on a Thursday and has started a recording studio, the students have had sessions with Ming and have started to create their own material! Ming also is running a drop in lunchtime studio on a Thursday for any students that are keen to have a go, so please pop along and have a go. We are very much looking forward to the outcome of this project and hearing some of the original songs that our students create!

In our drama and dance spaces we have been consistently amazed by how our students are taking risks and stepping outside of their comfort zones to create great pieces of theatre and dance. The performing arts culture is something that continues to grow at JFC and it has been so exciting to see students become more confident in their choices in these spaces and eager to learn more. We are very much looking forward to being back in the classroom spaces soon as we know that these subjects online are hard to connect with.

Until next time we hope you are all keeping safe and well!
