Principal's Update

Lisa Robinson

I would like to extend my appreciation to everyone for the warm welcome that has been extended to me from all the staff, students and parents of the John Fawkner community.

My time here has been eventful with two lock downs, but this pandemic has taught us all to be flexible and adapt to what is needed. I have, however, been able to walk the grounds and corridors on a daily basis and meet and chat with many of your children. I mentioned to staff on my first week, that what struck me the most about the young people at this school was their friendly nature and willingness to have an honest conversation. As such I have asked lots of questions about the school, what they enjoy and what they see as things they could improve. My goal this term is to action some of their ideas.

You may have seen on compass the beginning of the SWPBS shop. For some time now your child would be receiving values cards when they demonstrate the behaviors that we expect and encourage at our college. The values cards can now be traded for a reward. Students have embraced this idea, and are giving me many suggestions about what they would like to see in the shop moving forward.

As we move into term 3 and closer to the end of learning for our Year 12's we will ensure we do all we can to support our learners and. I know the year level teams have much in place to provide opportunities to support your child to demonstrate knowledge and be successful.

I look forward to meeting more of you in person.
