Nazareth Winter Appeal Thanks

Not even a pandemic can stop the generosity of the Nazareth community! Once again, students, staff, and families rose to the challenge of donating bags of items filled with non-perishable food and toiletries. The photos tell the true story.

The Vinnies Team would like to thank each, and every person who made a significant contribution to this vital appeal; it has such a positive impact on those who struggle, on a daily basis, within our community. To be able to hand a mother or father a bag of groceries to feed their family, or hand over a toilet bag filled with essential items for personal hygiene proves that we can make a difference.

Intermediate Boys Volleyball

The Intermediate Boys Volleyball team played extremely well in all of the four games they participated in and ended up winning the pennant for this competition. Each of the members of the team are to be congratulated on how they worked together to produce a high standard of play in all of these games. On several occasions the boys were challenged, but were able to come through thanks to some great play and the support they gave each other while on the court. The members of the team were:

Jerrod Batallones

Tim Bui

Jaiden Soy

Malcolm Kilfoyle

Henok Tekle

Gatkouth Malet

Daniel Kartel

Nathan Gebremeskel

Regan Lim

Fayez Sayegh

Well done boys! Lets hope we can keep the team together next year for another tilt at the pennant!

Senior Boys Football

It was a rollercoaster ride for our Senior Boys Football team last term, with the mixture of wintery weather and COVID bringing about a challenging season. The first round proved to be the biggest blow, with our strongest opponents - Flinders Tyabb - causing our largest defeat of the season on our home turf. The Naz boys came back with a vengeance though in round two, smashing St Peter’s Clyde North on their own turf 56 – 10, demonstrating Nazareth’s greatest quality of play for the season. In what then proved to be the final match due to COVID lockdown and restrictions, our boys fought their best battle in front of a strong home crowd, in a tight nail biter against St Peter’s Cranbourne where they wrestled back from 30 points down to be narrowly defeated by 13 points. We congratulate the boys on finishing 4th overall. For many of them, this was their last time wearing the Naz uniform and we thank them for their contribution and pride in playing this season and all passed. Well done boys!
