3 AROUND THE TRAPS

Literacy

We have continued all the great work students have been doing at remote learning at school. Students have chosen an Australian animal to complete a research report on. We began with researching our animals using different sources and writing facts down. Now we are beginning to put these facts together into an information report. Our aim is to make a class book teaching us all about different Australian animals.

Maths

Being back at school, we have been able to move onto multiplication in the classroom. Students began with revising the different ways we can represent multiplication (arrays, repeated addition, equal groups and turn around facts). We are now moving on to learning strategies to help us remember different times tables. Students are really keen and eager to learn these!

Inquiry

In Inquiry, we have learnt about the connection between First Nations people and the naming of different places in Australia. We have discovered that some places in Australia have First Nations words as their name - with the First Nations word being one that describes the place. For example, Wollongong means point of the bay, Illawong means between two waters and Berri means a wide bend in the river.

RE (Religious Education)

We have continued to work on our knowledge of different types of prayer this week. I have been amazed with the knowledge students now have about this topic and this is all thanks to the amazing work they have been doing during remote learning!
