News
It is great to be back at school after our break. Stamina was a small issue late in the day last week but we seem to be back in business this week!
The Grade 6 students will participate in the Spud Olympics with the Foundation students this Thursday. Last week we turned our potatoes into Olympians with students decorating their potatoes with hair, eyes and colours representing the country of their choice. Photos to come next week!
We have spent some time watching Australians compete in Tokyo over the last week or so, particularly swimmers. It is great to see students yelling and supporting their country (or their parent's country!!!). The noise levels were at an all-time high!
Literacy
Literacy Circles have continued as students are well into the second halves of their books. The teachers are trying to get a high quantity of reading into students at the moment so don't be surprised to see a novel come home at some stage.
Maths
We completed our unit on Angles during remote learning and have now moved onto Location and Transformation. Transformation changes the position of a two-dimensional shape. This could be by flipping the shape (reflection), sliding the shape (translation) or turning the shape (rotation).
Inquiry
There were some great timelines completed at the end of Term 2 relating to our unit on Democracy. Students had to place significant events on a timeline that may have impacted women, workers or Indigenous Australians. See the photos below.
Our unit this term is on social justice, particularly in regards to children of the world.
Religion
We are looking at Mission to start the term and this has coincided with some online sessions with Sister Rita from the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre in Melbourne. We learn about Mary MacKillop and her work as we approach her feast day. Sister Rita speaks to our class live from the centre as well as four other schools across the state.
