Student achievements

Congratulations to the following students:

Sophia Raudino, Amber Walter, Madelin Banasik and Julia Badel (Year 8)—members of the Year 8 debating team who finished their season with a strong four-point win against Mackillop Catholic College. The topic of the debate was, 'Children should be paid for doing chores'. Special thanks must go to Isabella Cox (Year 12), who coached the girls through the season, and teacher Gillian Goldsworthy, for her invaluable organisation and support.

The Year 7, Year 9 and College debating teams also enjoyed a great season, with the finals to take place at the start of this term. Good luck to all participants!

Georgia Thurling, Sana Ghiazvand and Arabella Butterworth-Barry (Year 7), who showcased their talents at the Festival of Voices 2021 in Hobart recently—Tasmania's leading winter cultural event. The girls joined more than 600 young performers from schools across the state at the festival, which celebrates the vocalist and the power of song.

Charlotte Wall (Year 6), who is making her best ollies, flips and flicks count for charity. Charlotte completes a 65 Roses Challenge every May, raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Tasmania. This year, she built a team of skateboarders who were each tasked to perform a trick 650 times throughout the month of May. Together, they raised a whopping $11,650! What an incredible effort and amazing way to contribute to this very worthwhile cause.
