Learning about cinquain poems

CINQUAIN POEMS by Grade 3/4 students.

This week during home learning the Grade 3/4 students have been learning about Cinquain poems.

The Cinquains that we wrote are five lines long. They have 2 syllables in the first line, 4 in the second, 6 in the third, 8 in the fourth, and just 2 in the last line. Our Cinquains did not need to rhyme, but some students did choose to use rhyming words.

Though they are just five lines long, the best cinquains tell a small story. Instead of just having descriptive words, they may also have an action (something happening), a feeling caused by the action, and a conclusion or ending.

The Grade 3/4 students have been working on expanding their vocabulary through their reading goals and many tried very hard to use new and interesting vocabulary as part of their Cinquains.

We hope you enjoy reading a selection of them below.
