Principal

Our school is located on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.

Remote and online learning

Thank you for your continuing support of our students. We know the juggle in all homes continues to be difficult with working and home learning, many of our staff find themselves in the same situation.

Today you will have received a message via Sentral about the learning program with Department guidelines, ongoing communication continues from individual teachers and teaching teams via Sentral.

Please call the school if you are having difficulty with passwords, access to Webex sessions or ICT issues.

As with all other remote and online learning periods we encourage you to do all you can to support student learning, but keep your family wellbeing a focus. We know our community does all it can to complete set tasks, some days this is not always possible.

We will provide ongoing communication as it becomes available, especially moving into Monday next week and our possible return to onsite school for all.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you for taking time to read your child's report and attend Parent Teacher Interviews on Monday. We have had feedback about the importance of having face to face interviews even if they were online.

Thank you to our staff for preparing for and undertaking the interviews.

From the student data from Semester 1 our teams will now review Individual Education Plans and start preparing new plans based on achievement in the first half of this year.

Tell us about Boroondara Park PS

Thank you to those members of the community who have already completed the survey 'Tell us about Boroondara Park PS' which was sent via Sentral message yesterday.

The survey aims to provide us with what our community thinks we do well and how we can be even better.

We are currently reviewing and setting our marketing plan. This will support us to build enrolments and ensure the message we provide is focused.

We have included the link below for anyone able to give five minutes to provide feedback. Tell us about Boroondara Park PS

Wellbeing

It can be challenging to process and manage changes to routines and the uncertainty that comes with COVID-19 and related restrictions – including moving to remote learning.

To support our school community during this time, resources and support are available for parents, carers and families.

These resources will help to support the mental health and wellbeing of our students and the young people in our care during this time.

I encourage everyone in our community to access these resources and take care of themselves during this time.

Services and support for students and their families

Quick Guide to Student Mental Health and Wellbeing resources is available for students, parents and carers looking to access expert guidance and resources to support wellbeing.

Supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students remains our priority this year, especially during the continued COVID-19 pandemic and while students are learning from home during the current circuit breaker restrictions.

For students, the guide includes resources to support their own mental health and wellbeing.

  • Advice and resources for students about ways to adapt their learning during COVID-19, to look after themselves and where to get help.
  • Wellbeing activities fearing AFL and AFLW players with tips on managing stress, staying active and gratitude.
  • Kick it with Victory physical activities with Melbourne Victory Football Club.
  • Smiling Mind mindfulness activities for senior secondary school students, including short videos, online tip sheets and meditations

The guide also includes resources and supports for parents and carers to help them build their child’s physical and mental health and wellbeing. This includes:

  • resources to support children’s physical, mental health and wellbeing
  • wellbeing activities and conversation starters
  • Raising Learners podcast series
  • how to talk to your child about COVID-19.

Sentral App - Calendar of events

We regularly provide feedback to Sentral around functionality and changes we would like to see. We provided feedback to Sentral on improving the ability to view school events. The app now allows families to view events daily, weekly and monthly.

Keep an eye out for Randal's message regarding the Sentral App. There are other improvements to the app, which will be outlined in the document Randal is sending out today.
