Principal's Report
By Louise Mellington
After a busy Term 1, we have already had much occur at Kyabram P-12 College in the first two weeks of Term 2.
ANZAC Day Services
On Monday 24 April, our College Captains delivered an ANZAC service at our college with all students P-12 attending with guests from our wider community. On Tuesday 25 April we had several students represent the college at our Kyabram RSL ANZAC Day service as well as students attending services in our neighbouring communities. College Captains, Aiden Resul and Matt Di Petta, spoke at the Warrumunda Lone Pine Service on Wednesday 26 April.
Positive Parenting Program
We have an exciting opportunity for all parents and carers happening on Tuesday 30 May. We are fortunate to have a Positive Parenting Program visiting our school to present on raising resilient children. This free presentation is for all interested parents and carers of our community. It will be held in our Hall from 3:30 pm until 5:00 pm. Doors will open at 3:15 pm. Light refreshments will be provided after the presentation. Please register using the link on the promotional material in this edition of Channels.
Student Attitudes to School Survey
Over the coming weeks all students in Years 4 – 12 will complete a short online survey about their experiences at school. This survey is completed by students in all schools across Victoria. It is an opportunity for students to have their say on what they think about school.
The survey will ask questions relating to student engagement, wellbeing, and quality instruction. We value student voice and engage all students to have their say.
Further details will be provided via Compass this week.
Staffing
We have welcomed some new staff to our college this term.
Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning Achievement Awards
On Tuesday 2 May, our college was the recipient of three awards at the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning Achievement Awards for 2022. This is a credit to Mitch Coombs and his team of teachers and students. The three awards were:
Uniform
We had a great start to the year with uniform and we would like to thank parents, carers and students for their efforts in this area. As the cold weather approaches we need to ensure students are dressed appropriately with layers, wearing jumpers and jackets. Hoodies are not part of our school uniform. In Term 2 broad brimmed hats are no longer required to be worn outside. Students are permitted to wear our college beanie, whilst outside. Families are encouraged to contact the school if they need support with the uniform.
Pupil Free Days Term 2
This term we have two pupil free days:
Education Week 15-19 May
We have a number of events and activities across our college during Education Week, and we welcome our parents, carers and wider community to come visit us.
