OHS Report
Last week I attended a two day conference at the Catholic Leadership Centre to be trained in becoming a Return to Work Coordinator. The RTW coordinator is responsible for implementing an organization's return to work program, supporting workers as they recover at work and assisting employers to meet their obligations as required under workers compensation legislation. It was a very valuable and important experience that can now be utilised if need be, at our school.
As the weather gets colder and wetter, please be aware of the yard surfaces. The Tiger Turf areas especially near the back gate exit can become quite slippery and water logged. Take extra care when walking around these areas.
If you see any areas in the school that you are concerned about please do not hesitate to contact me via email.
Physical Education Grade 2 - 6
The Grade 2,3 and 5 students have begun a unit on Soccer. They are participating in drills that allow them to build up the skills necessary to perform an accurate pass to a partner or target. They will also be working on shooting, passing and moving the ball through mini games.
The Grade 5’s have a Specialist Soccer Coach on hand for four weeks from Football Federation Australia. Betty Taranto is an experienced player and coach who is helping our students learn the necessary skills to become a competent soccer player.
The Grade 4 students are currently learning the skills necessary to play Touch Football. Giancarlo Leung from Touch Football Victoria is an experienced Junior Coach who is very well credentialed in showing and modelling to our students the skills they need to become a Touch Football Player. The sport of Touch Football is similar to Rugby (without the tackling).
The Grade 6 students are learning the art of Taekwondo. Eric from Halls Taekwondo is a very well experienced Coach who is a familiar face with some of our students. Eric has a wonderful, calm but disciplined approach to training the students in punching, jabbing, stance, kicking and defending techniques connected to Taekwondo.
