Mother’s Day Stall

This year, the Community Liaison Delegate team organised the Mothers Day Stall for Monday 8th of May based on parent feedback that families would like the stall to return in 2023. The team aimed to make the stall more sustainable by carefully considering the types of gifts to purchase, asking students to bring reusable bags and encouraging students to wrap gifts at home so we weren’t wrapping gifts in plastic.

Students from Prep to Year 6 had the opportunity to purchase gifts for their mothers and later could return to purchase additional gifts for other significant women in their lives. It was lovely to see siblings negotiating with each other to ensure that their mother got an array of different gifts. Students were using mathematics as they calculated how much their presents would cost and worked out if they had enough money to pay.

A big thank-you to the parents who volunteered to set up the stall, the parents who ran the stall and the parents who packed up the stall. We would also like to thank staff who assisted with the event and to everyone who supported the stall.

Putting on the stall was a huge effort and wouldn’t have been possible without the kind support of the Community team,  parent volunteers, staff, and the community.

Mother’s Day Afternoon

On Friday 12th of May we celebrated the mothers and significant women in our students' lives for Mother’s Day. Thank-you to Glenroy Bakery for the delicious scones, Woolworths for the jam and cream, and Susan and Chris from the Violet Cafe who made delicious coffee and hot drinks for everyone. Thank-you to our staff who helped set up, run and pack up the afternoon tea as well.

It was special to meet as a Whole School to celebrate our mothers through a liturgy led by our students and Ms Malone. A big thank-you to Ms Malone and all the students who read, leading us through a lovely and touching liturgy to reflect on all that our mums do for us.

We ended the afternoon with parents being able to visit their child/ren’s classrooms to participate in Mother’s Day activities. A big thank you to the classroom teachers for preparing a nice activity to allow the students to interact with the special women in their lives and to give thanks.

Overall, it was a lovely afternoon and we hope that everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day on Sunday. We acknowledge all mothers and significant women in our students' lives, with us now or in heaven, and appreciate all they do to shape and inspire our children to be the best they can be.

Thank-you, on behalf of the Community Liaison Team
