Teaching & Learning

Term 1 wrap up!

It has been a busy first term, both in and out of the classroom. Our Year 7 students have settled into the rhythms of Secondary school and at the other end, our Year 12's are exploring their pathway options beyond school.

We managed to successfully conduct the NAPLAN testing across Year 7 and Year 9. Thank you to all students who sat the tests and did the best they could. Families and students can expect the results a little later in the year.

Professional Learning Communities: 'Know thy student'

Our teachers have concluded their first term PLC focus which was centered around getting to know the learners in their classrooms. This involved work around collecting and analysing students literacy data, writing individual learning goals and plans, moderating student work and focusing on building rapport. Next term we are investigating on improving our feedback practices as we know that this has a huge impact on student learning outcomes.

Critical Friends: Professional Learning

We have been extremely fortunate to continue working with Tom Campbell (Literacy) and Rob Park (Numeracy) Teachers have invited them into their classrooms for observation and feedback on a fortnightly basis and they have also conducted professional learning around disciplinary literacy, quick writes and scaffolding numeracy. This work will continue into Term 2 where we will unpack student data and also form partnerships with other Colleges who can support the work we are implementing.
