Principal's Message

With only four days remaining before the break, we wish students and their families an enjoyable Easter holiday and hope to see everyone refreshed and ready for a busy Term 2.

I would also like to publicly thank the teachers and support staff of Ben Venue for their incredible effort, ongoing positivity and commitment to continuous improvement. I am very fortunate to lead a group of such dedicated people, and appreciate their absolute focus on student wellbeing and learning while managing the challenge of implementing new English and mathematics syllabuses in the context of an ongoing teacher shortage.

Official opening of the yarning circle

Last Tuesday afternoon, the Ben Venue yarning circle was officially opened. While we were unable to hold the smoking ceremony as planned, our students performed a very well considered and executed dance, representing the coming together of people and ideas in the new space.

Thank you Mrs Swain and Mr Rhodes for planning the event and to everyone who attended in support.

Autumn Festival

Thank you to the staff and students who represented our school in the Autumn festival march on the weekend.

Mobile communication device policy reminder

We understand that many parents/carers support and encourage their children to carry a mobile device. Mobile devices may be of some use as a protection from danger on the way to and from school or when normal travel arrangements break down. They may also be useful when after school activities are cancelled or changed. Mobile devices however, can easily be improperly used, lost or damaged and therefore guidelines for their use in schools must be clear.

Students are not permitted to carry mobile phones or other communication devices, including messaging-enabled smart watches, with them or have a mobile phone in their bag. Phones are to be signed into the office upon arrival at school and collected at 3:10 pm. For further information and exceptional circumstances, please refer to Ben Venue's Mobile Communication Devices policy.

Disciplinary action may be taken when students are found to be in breach of the policy.
