Assistant Principal - Religious Identity & Mission

Mrs Kim Mooney

I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Easter break.

Stations of the Cross

On Thursday 6 April, our Year 10 Spirit Leaders – Oliver, Ryan, Alex and Lachlan and Edmund (Year 7) re-enacted the stations of the cross, depicting each of the steps in the journey Christ took to his crucifixion on Good Friday. Our students performed each action with respect and reverence. We thank Fr Suresh for attending to introduce the stations and to provide a final blessing. The college liturgy band played Glory, Glory, Hallelujah to conclude, to express our joy that Jesus rose again on Easter Sunday.

Anzac Day

On Anzac Day I had the privilege of attending the Claremont Anzac Day ceremony where Adam Collins (Year 11) spoke meaningfully and movingly around what Anzac Day means to him, reflecting how it is a day to remember the resilience, strength, mateship, determination and valour of Australian and New Zealander service members across the past 108 years of conflict and peacekeeping and how we, as Australians, can embody and carry on the ANZAC tradition in our everyday lives, so that we may live as better people and so that the memory of ANZAC may never fade.

Edmund Rice Feast Day

Today we paused to celebrate the life and vision of our Founder, Blessed Edmund Rice. Our college is a very busy place, but by taking the time to celebrate the life of Blessed Edmund Rice, we enable our school community to come together to reflect on who we are and what we value, so we can clarify and articulate what we consider important. We started the day with a whole College Mass (students from Year 3-11), followed by a sausage sizzle for everyone. In the afternoon, we celebrated his life with a range of activities and a concert.

“Edmund’s charism and mission is ours – ours to shape and to turn into a dynamic, contemporary force. Such a force is very much needed in our complex and fragile world where both its peoples and its environment need the protection of a courageous loving hand.”
