VCE  & Careers Expo

Our VCE students recently attended the 2023 VCE & Careers Expo, which is one of the biggest education and careers events providing an extensive number of exhibitors, seminars and resources for students. Here are some reflections from students who attended the event:

The Careers expo was a beneficial experience. The stalls were useful for the people who knew exactly what they wanted to do for their career, those who have some idea and those with no idea. For those with a clear career goal in mind, it helped them put into perspective what it would take, how achievable it would be, what TAFEs or universities were available to them and what it would be like. For those who have a vague idea about what they might want to pursue, the stalls were beneficial for helping them narrow their interests. To the people with no idea what their path after high school should be, the career expo was advantageous for highlighting possible career paths. In my opinion, how beneficial the expo to students depended on how keen they were to utilise the information provided to them.

On Thursday 4 May, the Year 11 cohort went to the Caufield Racecourse to go to the 2023 Careers Expo. On this day, there were many other students, all from a variety of schools and some of us had small interactions with them. At this expo, we were able to go around to different stalls and ask the workers about our job preferences and our ambitions for the future. At the expo, I went around to all the stalls with my friends and we were able to receive valuable advice and even get some free items like hats and badges. Overall, this day was a very valuable experience and we were able to have our questions about our future answered.
