Auslan Extra

 

Howdy Families, Carers and the Armstrong Creek community, 

 

During the school holidays, on 13th April,  we celebrated Auslan day, being the anniversary of the publication of the first Auslan (Australian Sign Language) dictionary in 1989. Auslan day honours the rich history, culture, community and language of the Australian Deaf community.

 

If you would like  to learn more Auslan, simply write down the words you or your family wish to learn and then check out the signs in the Auslan Dictionary (Signbank) www.auslan.org.au - type the word you want to know into the “keyword” field and have a play. 

 

Signbank also allows you to practise your fingerspelling https://auslan.org.au/spell/twohanded.html. Just enter any word and you can practise fingerspelling it at either a slow or fast pace.
