What is the subject about?

General Mathematics Units 1 and 2 cater for a range of student interests, provide preparation for the study of VCE General Mathematics at the Units 3 and 4 level and contain assumed knowledge and skills for these units. It will focus on real-life application of mathematics and consist of the areas of study ‘Data Analysis and  ‘Discrete Mathematics’, which will prepare students for the mathematical demands of middle management and running a business. 

  

Units 1 and 2

  • Area of Study 1 – Data Analysis, Probability and Statistics
  • Area of Study 2 – Algebra, Number and Structure
  • Area of Study 3 - Functions, relations and graphs
  • Area of Study 4 – Discrete Mathematics

General Maths Unit 1 and 2 is great because it gives you real world maths and allows us to apply it to situations. It is not too big of a jump from year 10.
