Catholic Identity

                                     Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

New Mercy Award

Each Friday along with one Student of the Week Award we will also be presenting a new award named the 'Mercy Award'.  This award, to be selected by the class teacher, recognises students who demonstrate the Gospel values of love, forgiveness, understanding and respect.

Saint Mary of the Cross Feast Day -   8th August

Mary MacKillop Feast Day is held every August 8th, in honour of the revered Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop.

She was the first Saint of Australia, and her influence in the country has spread far and wide. She is recognised for her commitment to the poor, helping those who needed it the most in any way she could.

"Never see a need without doing something about it."

The Feast of the Assumption of Mary - 15th August

On the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we remember when Mary was taken (“assumed”) into heaven, body and soul, after she died.  Mary died in Jerusalem and was buried in a tomb. But when the apostles opened the tomb again, her body was gone.  Mary’s body and soul were taken into heaven because Mary is special to God: she said “yes” to becoming the mother of Jesus. But God also wanted to show us that one day, all of us will share in the bodily resurrection of Jesus.

Sacraments update -

Baptism - The next parent information meeting for the Sacrament of Baptism at St. Mary’s has been scheduled for Tuesday 13th October at 7pm in the Church.   Further information and dates for  baptism ceremonies will be discussed at this meeting.  Any parents wishing to have their child(ren) baptised in the coming months are urged to attend this meeting and must also notify the Parish House of their intention.

Eucharist -  Children who are planning to make their first Eucharist this year may be able to start the home program at the beginning of Term Four, as it does not involve any group meetings other than work in  your own home. We would be planning for the ceremony to take place in term Four over a couple of masses.   Further updates to come.

Confirmation – This Sacrament is still planned for Grade Six in Term Four.  This will be celebrated by Monsignor Peter as the Bishop is not doing any of these visits this year.

Online Mass and prayer sites

Sunday Mass from St Mary's with Monsignor Peter has now been uploaded to Youtube each week. (The link for mass is  emailed to school families each week.  Contact Mr Butts or the Parish House if you know of anyone else that would like the link sent to them.)
