Student Representative Council (SRC)Report

Student Representative Council Report

Due to the restrictions of Covid-19 and the short period of time we spent learning at home, the SRC hasn’t been able to hold their meetings. However, the senior representatives have been doing their part in improving our learning, and planning in anticipation of the SRC’s first meeting. But no longer! On Thursday, we gathered together with all the SRC, with Mrs Simpson and Miss Donnelly, to hold our first meeting. Organised by the senior leadership team, a couple snacks to nibble on were waiting for us and the incoming juniors. It turned out to be an exciting, laughter filled, fun packed meeting with everyone getting to know each other, exchanging jokes and just generally having fun together.

Some important information about the SRC and its new structure was also provided by Mrs Simpson. We were quite surprised to hear that now the Year 7s are going to be having a whole council to themselves! What a huge step forward in their involvement and recognition of their voice. Representatives from this year 7 Council will then step up and be the Year 7 voice at the normal SRC meetings.

Beginning of next term, two experts from our School Advisory Council - Sue and Vernon Crew will take on a mentoring role of the senior leadership team, as we develop our understanding of policies, procedures and our leadership skills. This will help us lead and position the SRC to be a student body whose voice is valued and influences decisions made in the school. Get ready Year 11 and 12, there’s going to be a lot to learn!
