T3 Cafe News

A Day in the Life of our Cafe Team Leaders
Just like in any workplace, the T3 Cafe Team consists of Team Leaders who are in charge of running the whole Cafe project. In this week’s newsletter, I wanted to introduce you to our four Team Leaders and let them speak to you about what being a Cafe Team Leader is like.
Ambros Del Rosario (Year 12)
My name is Ambros Del Rosario and I’m currently in year 12, undergoing the position of a T3 Cafe team leader.
Initially, I had decided to apply for the T3 team leader position as an opportunity to learn more about responsibility and what it truly takes to maintain a business, though I didn’t realise that it would become so much more! Though my time as a team leader hasn’t been long, I’ve learnt to appreciate all aspects of the Cafe’s development, from watching members become master baristas, seeing returning customer faces and receiving support and praise from students and teachers alike have honestly been the most rewarding part of the position.
Being a Cafe leader entails a lot of responsibility. Though Mr Aria caters for orders and finance, the team leaders are responsible for the big decisions and finer details that make the system function. As a team leader, you are expected to work on rosters for staff, supervise each shift, and develop new ideas that create excitement for the Cafe like promotions on specials and new menu products, though in all honesty, the hardest part of being a Team Leader is getting through all seven of sirs emails after school.
Though it is hard to decide, I personally find that the most enjoyable part of the Cafe is the early morning openings with Mr Aria. Greeted by an early morning hit of Japanese music and conversations discussing ideas, issues and our excitement of the growing development of the Cafe has become somewhat of a routine or dare I say, my cup of coffee? In addition to the bad joke, It would be important to mention that since joining the Cafe team, It has become an environment where I’ve found a sense of joy. The atmosphere within the cafe is funny, friendly and most definitely hard working which only makes me love it even more. There is great thanks to be given to Mr Aria for making all of this possible.
Zipporah Puleheloto Nosa (Year 11)
My name is Zipporah Puleheloto-Nosa, I am currently in year 11. I wanted to become a T3 cafe leader because I wanted to be involved in new things that have been invited to our school here
Being a T3 Cafe Team Leader is a bit challenging for me, but I enjoy it, the roles I do while being a Team Leader are. Is that among myself and the other leaders we are each given a week to do the roster, we also come up with weekly specials, and also to make sure that everyone is doing their correct job/duty, each day we are placed on either in morning or lunch to supervise the team when they are on duty.
What I enjoy most about working in the T3 Cafe is that I get to meet new people in the team and get to know them since there are faces that I have not known before, it is also a space where I get to get away from something while in school.
Tufale Ikenasio (Year 11)
Hello, my name is Tufale.Ikenasio, I’m 17 years of age and I’m currently in year 11.
Having the opportunity to become one of the cafe’ Team leaders is the best thing that ever happened to me since I started high school. I believe that I’m suited for the role of Team leader, firstly, because I love learning new things and I can work well with others, and secondly because I have the skills to lead and manage a team. I wanted to become a team leader so that I can learn more skills and to guide, motivate and inspire others.
Being a Team leader, we do a lot of things and we all have different responsibilities every week. Each week, one of us does the roster & weekly special for Friday. We make sure everyone is comfortable with who they are working with and we give them the opportunity to share ideas and thoughts for our cafe’ menu and other things as well.
I enjoy working at the cafe’ most because we, as a team, stand together, caring for one another and most importantly just having fun everyday.
Amber Hingston (Year 10)
My name is Amber, I am one of the 4 cafe team leaders. I became a T3 leader because I wanted to be able to lead and help people with challenges. As a team leader, we organise rosters, host training shifts and train how to make coffees and beverages and create new menu ideas and specials. Still, there are some challenges, like people having different availability and trying to be organised enough. The thing I like most about being a cafe leader is being able to experience new things myself and then being able to teach others those things I've learnt.
