Assistant Principal News

Dear Parents,
Thank you to those that joined the CEDWW zoom session with Dr Andrew Fuller on Wednesday night. The College staff undertook the same session on Thursday and the Year 8 Homeroom team, in particular, are now working with their Homerooms on establishing their own, and their students' learning strengths so that individual strategies can be focused upon as the year continues during Academic Pastoral Care sessions.
The goal of this program is to introduce students to their own individual way of learning and to teach them strategies to enhance their executive functions and ultimately impact on their learning. They will spend time with students and teachers with the same learning strengths and work in groups and as individuals to support each other in enhancing their understanding of their own learning.
Currently staff are completing their junior reports. This Semester will be the first time the Growth Goals are embedded. Please take the time to look at your child's goal and discuss this with them. A part of creating meaningful learning experiences is closely linked to the ability to identify strengths and areas for growth. Some students are still developing their ability to engage with the goal setting process, so please contact your child's Homeroom teacher once you receive their reports and have any questions.
We are very pleased that we were able to host Yr 11 and 12 families back to the College for the Senior Support nights. We are also excited to host our first Yr 6 Transition Program for the year in Week 10. The students are invited to join us to take part in Music, Art, English, History and Maths. These days are extremely important for helping students to navigate a new school environment, become more familiar with the College timetable and meet staff and peers. This formation opportunity allows them the opportunity to feel comfortable engaging with the College, readying them for their transition into 2023.
Yours in Learning,
Lora Segrave
