A message from the Principal

Ms Nerina Pretlove

Evans at Vivid! It was very exciting for three of our students and a group of proud teachers to join them at the launch of their artwork as part of this year’s Vivid Festival. Coda, Jade and Drew’s artworks are being projected across Barangaroo with exposure on the national and international levels.

This was a result of our partnership with Solid Ground, Blacktown Arts Centre and Carriageworks. Their Artist-in-Residence program has, for the last six years, supported our Indigenous students to explore their talents and exposed them to industrial applications of their design, music, dance, and art. We highly value this partnership and look forward to it extending into future directions and projects.

Year 8 are in the process of subject selection, and we thank all those parents and carers who came out on a cold Thursday night to seek more information to help their children make good decisions for their studies in Years 9 and 10. Year 10 students have already made their subject choices for their HSC1 pattern of study.

Now that we are able open our school, we are looking forward to our Parents and Friends of Evans group to start meeting again in early Term 3. Please keep an eye out in the next e-newsletter for dates and times.

The last two weeks of this term will see the return of our Multicultural Day during Refugee Week when we celebrate the incredible diversity that is our school. We will also be opening our new Yarning Circle with a smoking ceremony and dancers acknowledging the First Nations peoples who have been learning on these lands for tens of thousands of years.
