Cultural Lunch in honour of the National Day in Nepal

Since our last lunch service two weeks ago, our Year 12 VET Hospitality students have been busy preparing for our next cultural lunch in honour of the National Day in Nepal.

Our menu for the day was Dal Bhat (Lentil Curry with Steamed Rice), Samosas and Sel Roti (Rice Bread). Students served our staff as an exclusive table buffet lunch in the staffroom.

Now they will move onto preparing for our next service in two weeks which will be a 5-course degustation in honour of the Dragon Boat Festival in the People’s Republic of China.

VET Hospitality - First Aid Course Completion Ceremony

Our VET students have undertaken and completed their mandatory First Aid course. Today, our Year 12 Hospitality students had the privilege to attend a mini ceremony held in the T3 Cafe where our Principal,  Alan Le Brocque, presented a speech and awarded students with their First Aid course certificates.

Our Year 12s have gone through a very difficult period, especially with the COVID-19 lockdowns, and are currently working very hard to catch up on all the practical elements of the course. I would like to congratulate all of our students for pulling through and achieving a very high standard of service with all the functions held in school and the T3 Cafe operation.

Each student also had the opportunity to express a few words about their experiences in VET Hospitality so far…

Jessica Agostini & Antoinette Galluzzo

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in hospitality with Mr Arai. He has introduced many new aspects, making our experience fun, new and interesting. We have learnt so many new skills and knowledge that has helped us be a part of the cafe team. It has been a pleasure to be a part of the T3 Cafe and serve our college with this new service

The thing I enjoyed about hospitality is that when we did the service practical periods because it helped me improve my skills as well as learn new things during class practicals.

Partaking in the hospitality subject has allowed me to expand my knowledge, learn new skills and meet new people. I thoroughly enjoy this subject and personally believe it is very beneficial for not only one's tertiary education, but their overall life skills.

I really want to thank my teacher for the amazing opportunity to open up the T3 Cafe and it has also been a delight of being a team member of the T3 Cafe. I really enjoyed prepping for the service periods within lessons before. It's been a pleasure to take part in such a high-quality rate of a service period, serving customers, serving staff members.

So far, I've thoroughly enjoyed working in this class with Mr Arai and my fellow students. I've learnt how to create coffee as well as work in a hospitality setting effectively through the experience gained through the T3 cafe where we simulate a real world cafe environment. Thanks to the help from sir, I've gained very valuable experience and a whole lot of happy memories in hospitality.

Sir is a very spontaneous, hard-working teacher that we are extremely fortunate to have. I recommend that we extend his contract for an additional 5 years. He has also taught us so much about the art of baristas and coffee making. He also taught us many great things regarding the hospitality industry such as the preparation of different types of food dishes and different types of functions and how to prepare for them. Overall I personally think that Sir is an amazing teacher.

Teamwork makes dreams work! We learn how to listen and work with others to function as a cohesive unit. I love hospitality because it allows us to nurture and teaches us respect, hard work, and patience.
