DEPUTY PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MS CATHERINE HOWISON - DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

Winter Uniform

A reminder to our students who wear the winter skirt - it should be hemmed to mid knee. Currently there are too many students wearing skirts of the wrong length. We have noticed a trend of rolling up the winter skirt and this should not be occurring.

A maroon jumper must be worn under the winter jacket. The winter jacket is an additional layer to combat the cold weather. We are lucky to have well heated rooms and students will be asked to remove their jackets in class. This will mean that when they go out into the yard for a break they can put on their jacket to add another layer of warmth.

It is good to see so many students wearing the uniform well and it is a pity that a few choose to do the wrong thing.

We are seeking second hand uniforms to add to our store of uniforms at school, including school ties. Any donations will be gratefully received.

Hands Off

At St Mary MacKillop College we have a hands off policy, which means students should not be pushing, slapping, wrestling or punching each other. Even in jest this is not appropriate. Currently some of our students in Year 8 have been engaging in some very rough behaviour that has been dismissed by them as just joking around. This is not acceptable and all students should be ensuring that they contribute in a positive way to a safe space.

VicSRC Visit

VicSRC are prioritising visiting regional schools in 2022 and they have planned a visit to our school on Thursday 19th May. VicSRC staff members Nina (CEO) and Benita (Student Engagement Manager) will be calling in to visit and speak with teachers and students about what VicSRC is and how they can support us too! They will be here at lunchtime and the aim is to bring together a group of students involved in or interested in leadership and have a chat about VicSRC, how things are going at our school and any challenges that they’re facing. Thanh Pham in Year 10 is a member of VicSRC and if you have any questions that you would like to ask her please feel very free to approach her. There will be a notice on the Bulletin as a reminder.
