YEAR 9 LANGUAGES EXPO
On Tuesday 19 July, the Year 9 language students held an exposition to showcase their research on a variety of topics. The exposition was held during lunchtime where students as well as teachers of the East Campus could come along to learn about French speaking countries and different aspects of the German speaking countries. In addition to the stands, many of the language students also prepared games and food to give out. Students who visited could also vote for their favourite stand and participate in a quiz, which contained a mix of questions which could be answered by looking at all the stands at the exposition.
Overall, the Language Exposition was extremely enjoyable and unforgettable. We would like to thank Madame Lynd, Madame Antal, Herr Nutting and all the staff involved in making this event possible!

LANGUAGES EXPO PRIZES
During the Expo, students were able to vote for the most informative displays and the most fun displays. The winners of these prizes are:
- Most informative: Switzerland
- Most fun: Switzerland
The runners-up in both categories were German Desserts; there were several displays with that title, so well done to all.
The winner of the quiz competition was Lauren Fischer (Year 9A).GERMAN MODEL UN 2022
The German Model UN is an imitation of a typical United Nations conference, except in German. And with equal say between the countries. And with actual children. But I digress. Here is my recount of the invigorating, high-octane, in-your-face, egad-everything's-in-German experience.
After navigating to the fantastical land of "North Melbourne", we joined the twelve other schools with varying numbers of countries. Innnnn the left corner we have... the powerful Sofia and Georgia Linardou sister duo repping Germany! Don't let their lack of delegates fool you... they'll (germanly) suplex any amendments to the preamble without mercy! My fellow Egypt representatives were Ilya Zyuzin and Jack Campbell, two Year 10s illegally smuggled into the exclusive VCE event.
Alliances were formed, backs were stabbed (figurative), speeches were made, meat was for some reason constantly talked about, France decided that a worthy financial decision would be to donate 10% of its GDI to developing countries and -- most importantly -- fun was had.
★★★★☆
food was good 👍👍
Vielen Dank to Frau Reid and Frau Fowler.

YEAR 7 FRENCH AUX CHAMPS ELYSÉES PERFORMANCE
On the last day of Term 2, Monsieur Chamontin organised a performance by some of his Year 7 French students at the main campus. Here is Solomon Batkilin’s (Year 7) colourful description of the experience:
“AUX CHAMPS ELYSÉES! AUX CHAMPS ELYSÉES!"
Aux Champs Elysees will be engraved into our minds forever after all the laughs and singing we did that day. A huge French Flag was held as we all took a deep breath and started to sing. Let me tell you, it wasn’t an easy journey. We all spent countless sessions in French repeatedly listening to the same song over and over, constantly singing over and over. Until we got it just right. Keep in mind that most of us have only been doing French for 1 Semester! But at the end of the day, we did our best. We had a great time learning and performing Aux Champs Elysées. It will be a memory to remember for a long long time.
