Coming into Winter there is not much growing as plants generally are going into their dormant stages for the colder months. This does not deter our dedicated crew though.
When the weather is too cold we find plenty to do for the gardens indoors. Ages ago some kind person dropped off to the school a huge bag of the Woolies Discovery Garden kits.
We potted some out and have been tending them carefully, keeping them moist and in a sunny spot on the window sill in 3/4CM (room 10).
We weren't sure if they would sprout but it was a lot of fun watching the coco pellets expand and grow. Now we're waiting patiently to see if a few more warm days will help them sprout.
A sunnier morning so we just did a bit of weeding and then watered the vegies that were growing with some seaweed solution to give them so 'oomph'.
The children enjoyed the watering but we all agreed... it was a bit stinky. 👃
Another cool, wet morning but Ms C brought in some Bok Choy seedings from home so we transplanted them into some little pots so they can grow bigger and stronger then we'll add them to the vegie gardens. We've put them in a mini green house in a sunny spot to help them along. 🤞
Luckily a couple of the seedlings from two weeks ago have grown and Daniel and Harriet are very thrilled. The rest of us are still waiting hopefully.
Although it was cool the rain held off this morning so we took advantage and did more weeding. It is funny that in winter nothing much grows...except weeds that is.
A weed is any plant that colonises and persists in an ecosystem in which it did not previously exist. (https://www.aabr.org.au)
So, just because we don't want that particular plant growing in that particular spot we call it a weed... and pull it out.
Anyway, our flower bed now looks better and our pansy plants can grow without competiton. Another well spent morning with our little gardeners.
Latest news....checked the seedlings today and more have sprouted. 👀look carefully 🍃🌿
Happy gardening 🌺
