PERFORMING ARTS NEWS

This term the prep, Year 1 and 2 classes and I are lucky enough to be involved in a fantastic program called the 'National Music Teacher Mentoring Program.' This program invites Susie Davies-Splitter, an expert teacher in the field of music education, to our performing arts classroom and allows me to run a specialised music and movement class under her guidance. Students will perform and compose songs using instruments and explore different ways to make sounds using voice, body and movement. I have already learned so much from Susie about how a quality music education can benefit students in the early years by significantly improving academic progress and achievement in all areas, as well as social cohesion and individual and group wellbeing. We have been having so much fun learning new songs and dances, and look forward to performing for the school very soon!
