International Women's Day
Our school captains, Ms Hoddinott and Mrs Holmes joined in the community Women's Day breakfast, which this year acknowledges the widespread expectation for a gender-balanced world.
Chess
Four of our students from our Tuesday Chess Club attended Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School to compete in the first round of the New South Wales Junior Chess League (NSWJCL), Country Secondary Schools.
The students (Khaiam Ali, Tomas Dwyer, Flynn Hess and Peter Gooley) had fantastic games for their first round matches but the Farrer students were just too tactical and forced our errors.
Chess Club meets every Tuesday at lunch time in the HUB (Library). All students are welcome.
We await second round game notification to improve on our results from the first game.
Site Visit
Year 11 and 12 ASC Construction students had a visit to the build of the new school site to observe the demolition process. This is an incredible opportunity for our students to see a large scale demolition in progress. Thank you to Joel, Ryan and Ben from Richard Crooke Constructions for the tour and answering our questions.
We will be making regular visits to the site and students will take up work placement once construction starts.
Harmony Day at Drummond
Our students in the EAL class were invited to join in with Harmony Day festivities at Drummond Memorial Public School. They gave a hand with the day's activities and had such fun celebrating the concepts of diversity and inclusion with the younger students.
Thank you for a great day!
Harmony Day at Guyra
A group of our Ezidi students visited Guyra Central School and met up with some of their students, shared some aspects of their culture, learnt a little about our neighbouring community, and made some new friends!
Outdoor Recreation
Year 11 Outdoor Recreation students went on a field trip to Crescent Head to undertake the practical units for the Certificate II course.
Students have been camping and attaining competencies in canoeing, stand-up-paddling, and bushwalking.
