Audrey Smart
Audrey is an ambassador for the Glen Eira Youth Services Committee “Girl Up”. It is a committee of dynamic, community minded young women who explore ways to promote and create social change around healthy minds, positive identity and hope for the future for all girls in the community. This committee plays an integral role in reshaping the way girls feel about themselves and helps to create positive change in the community while helping girls to gain valuable skills in leadership, communication, and social awareness.
This morning was the official unveiling by the Mayor of Glen Eira and Local MP for Bentleigh of a wonderful mural Audrey has been working on in Centre Road, Bentleigh Plaza though the City of Glen Eira Youth Services.
The Brightening Bentleigh Project was funded by a Department of Justice and Community Safety graffiti prevention grant. The mural ─ I Am — is a colourful mural depicting women’s shoes together with statements of empowerment, such as “I am all I need to be.”
It is through Audrey’s work within the Girl Up Committee that she was given the wonderful opportunity to assist with the Brightening Bentleigh Project by collaborating with the artist on the mural design and assisting with parts of the installation.
Keep shining Audrey
