The performance will take place in The Farrall Centre at 1.30pm, and the choir will then work with guest conductor James Cuskelly as an open rehearsal for the conference delegates until 2.45pm.
Students will be dismissed from the Morris Library at 3.00pm. As is usual practice, students will be signed in and out with staff for this event.
Dress for this event will be the full formal uniform of white blouse, grey trousers or navy skirt with navy tights; or blue shirt and grey trousers. Students will also wear their navy shell jacket for the performance, and we request red or blue hair accessories only, please. As this is will be a formal performance representing the School, we would appreciate if students could ensure that they are wearing the uniform correctly and neatly for this event. Year 6 Canberra Trip
This year students will visit Canberra from Monday 6 May to Friday 10 May. Information packs have been sent to families. Please also note, as this excursion is outside the greater Hobart area, and outside of school hours, a permission request has been sent to parents via CareMonkey. If you have not already done so please ensure you complete your consent form by Monday 15 April. Spending Money envelopes are due into the Morris Office by Wednesday 10 April.
The Canberra Trip is an integral part of the Year 6 Primary Years Programme, encompassing both the first and second inquiries. The School would like to acknowledge the contribution from the Australian Government who recognise the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital.
Please do not hesitate to speak to your class teacher or call the Morris Office if you have any queries at all about arrangements for the Canberra trip.
Reminder: Year 6 Excursion - Friday 5 April
On Friday 5 April, Year 6 teachers and students will walk to Government House for morning tea with Her Excellency, Dr Kate Warner. There they will learn about her role in government as the Queen’s representative and her responsibilities as our Governor. After this, the teachers and students will walk back up to Soldiers’ Memorial Avenue at the Domain to meet with John Wadsley, then on to the Cenotaph. John will facilitate learning about the importance of the Soldiers’ Memorial Avenue, an Avenue of Honour comprising 520 trees planted in 1918 and 1919 to commemorate soldiers, mainly from Hobart, who died in World War I.
The students are asked to wear sports uniform and will need to bring lunch, a snack, drink bottle, shell jacket, hat and a raincoat. Please ensure no canteen orders for the day. We will leave School promptly at 8.55am and return to School by the end of the School day.
Reminder: Year 6 Excursion to Parliament - New Date Thursday 11 April
Our Parliamentary Educator has been able to confirm that our revised excursion date for State Parliament will be Thursday 11 April. Students will see the Legislative Assembly in action and learn about our parliamentary system. This will be a follow up to our incursion with David O’Byrne who discussed his roles and responsibilities as a Member of Parliament on Tuesday 2 April.
This is a walking excursion, departing School at 9.00am and returning by 2.00pm. The students are asked to wear sports uniform, including a hat. Please ensure no canteen orders are made on this day. Students will be able to take their water bottle and a morning tea snack and have the option to bring a maximum of $10 to purchase their lunch in Salamanca at 11.30am or to bring their own packed lunch.
