EMAIL ETIQUETTE
Now more than ever there is an expectation from students to read and acknowledge emails from teachers and support staff. Under the current COVID-19 circumstances, information is being communicated to you more via this means, and here are some simple tips and guidelines to follow when writing or replying to a message:
- Include a clear, direct subject line
- Use your school email address
- Use professional salutations – ‘hey’ is not ok!
- Use exclamation points sparingly
- Proof read every message
- Add the email address last and double check you have selected the correct recipient
- Keep your fonts classic
- Keep tabs on your tone
- Nothing is ever confidential – so write accordingly.
Refining good email practice now is a transferable skill required in the future, outside of school and into the workforce.
