EMAIL ETIQUETTE

Now more than ever there is an expectation from students to read and acknowledge emails from teachers and support staff.  Under the current COVID-19 circumstances, information is being communicated to you more via this means, and here are some simple tips and guidelines to follow when writing or replying to a message:

  1. Include a clear, direct subject line
  2. Use your school email address
  3. Use professional salutations – ‘hey’ is not ok!
  4. Use exclamation points sparingly
  5. Proof read every message
  6. Add the email address last and double check you have selected the correct recipient
  7. Keep your fonts classic
  8. Keep tabs on your tone
  9. Nothing is ever confidential – so write accordingly.

Refining good email practice now is a transferable skill required in the future, outside of school and into the workforce.
