Cricket Report

On the 2nd of December the O’Connor cricket team travelled to Tamworth to take on McCarthy Catholic College. After winning the toss O’Connor elected to bat first, tallying up 177 runs on the board. The best of the batters were Hayden Schumacher (66), Ryan Simpson (25) and a very tidy and well placed 19 from Clancy McDermott.

McCarthy went in to chase down the score falling short of the total on 132. The best of the O’Connor bowlers were: Hamish Biddle 3 for 9 off 4, Blake McElroy 1 for 1 off 1, Clancy McDermott 1 for 11 off 2 and a very tidy 0 for 8 off 3 overs from Vanessa Simpson.

Congratulations to both teams on their sportsmanship displayed under very hot and testing conditions in Tamworth! A special mention to captain Hamish Biddle who led his team by a fine example both with the ball in hand and in his mannerisms.

Thanks to Mr Honeysett for organising the match and to Mr Honnery and Miss Clydsdale for accompanying the boys and girls on the day.

Tennis News

In Tamworth on Wednesday, our girls tennis team consisting of; Chelsea Morley, Brienna Naden, Charlotte Killen and Amelia Roberts, represented O'Connor against McCarthy.

Upon arrival, noticing the hot temperatures, the students and Mr Honeysett were pleasantly surprised that  McCarthy were providing water and or a Zooper Dooper.

Our young ladies played singles and doubles with Brienna and Charlotte winning all of their games. Amelia and Chelsea played well, improving throughout the morning.

After a couple of hours, and adhering to Heat Regulations, we called an end of play.
