Welcome to our School Newsletter for Week 3 Term 1

I can't believe it has been two weeks since the last newsletter. things have certainly moved swiftly here at PHS.

We had our Governing Council AGM last week and had nominations for various roles and positions. It was a  competitive process with more nominations than positions which was great to see. A further indication of how much our community cares about the direction of the school. Leanne Draper has once again won the position of Chair and will continue the fantastic work from previous years.

This year the school has continued investing in training of staff in the Brightpath program with a number of staff attending training this week in Adelaide. More information on the program will be highlighted as the staff involved bring back their experiences and share with the school. Watch this space!

Some exciting events are happening as you will see in the rest of the newsletter: Sports Day, Swimming Carnival, MNSEC swimming to name a few. I am looking forward to attending and hopefully having the opportunity to talk to members of the community. Please feel free to approach me and say "hi".

It has been great moving around the school and having the opportunity to interact with the students who have been very friendly and welcoming. I have been invited to play chess, four square, join in conversations, shoot hoops and a lot more. There is now a small cohort of students who are angling to be the first student to beat the principal at chess, after 8 successful victories! I am going to have to practice to keep on my toes!

I hope the next few weeks continue to be as productive and enjoyable as the start of the school year has been.
