Selamat Siang!
Week 9 was packed full of fun and excitement that’s for sure! We began the week on the last day of November and the last day of spring! The students were definitely ready to welcome December and join in on some end of year celebrations.
On Wednesday we headed off on our walking excursion and posted our letters to our wonderful friends and families – some are even on their way to Malaysia and the North Pole! We practiced crossing the road safely at the school crossing and we know that we must wait behind the yellow line until our lollipop person blows their whistle or asks us to walk. We all practiced getting in and out of the car at kiss and drop off and know which side is the safe side to get out when we arrive at school – thanks Mrs Streitberger for the car. Our excursion was a big success and the students loved spotting their house and Christmas decorations along the way.
In Literacy this week we had our final guided reading sessions and focused on making connections when reading. We made text-to-self, text-to-text and text-to-world connections. It was interesting to hear what students knew about the different animals in our Big Books! We had lots of fun acting out our big book again in our reading groups for Readers Theatre as students practised using humour to make the audience laugh! There was plenty of handwriting practise this week for our letters and also when we made our silly sentences.
In Maths, we revisited patterns from earlier in the year! The students impressed us with their understanding of 2, 3 and even 4 step patterns! Students definitely used their character strength creativity to use shapes, colours, letters, numbers, beads and straws to make interesting and unique patterns!
We look forward to a fun week this week filled with lots of craft and celebrations!
Have a lovely week,

In Writing we had a Christmas problem to solve...
Santa is stuck in the chimney after eating too many snacks... In FH we came up with some creative solutions:
Elsa F - "He makes the biggest sneeze ever! Achoo, boom!"
Hanley F - "We can put the rope on his leg and pull the rope"
Lucas M - "The reindeer pull him out. Ho! Ho! Ho!"
George K - "Lots of people pull him down the chimney. Hooray I got out."
