'Tapping into student curiosity and allowing them to create, test and re-create.'

Sustainability in STEM

This term the focus for years 3-6 in STEM is on Sustainability, we are focusing particularly on plastics, paper and clothing.  Students who have already started this unit have shown their enquiring minds by asking the following questions:

“What is plastic made of?”

“Where do the materials to make plastic come from?”

“How do trees turn into paper?”

“Where does our paper go to get recycled?”

“How many times can you use a piece of clothing before it wears out?”

“What would happen if the world had no plastic?”

“Why is climate change happening?”

This term we will learn where paper, plastics and clothing come from, why it is a problem for our environment and what the students can do to reduce their impact on the environment.
