Principal's News

Our theme for this year

Reconciliation

To forgive is not to forget

To forgive is really a reminder

That nobody is perfect

That each of us stumbles.

When we want so much to stay upright

That each of us says things

We wish we had never said

That we can all forget that

Love is more important than being right.

To forgive is really to remember

That we are so much more than our mistakes

That we are often more kind and caring

That accepting another’s mistakes

Can help us accept our own.

Forgiveness does not change the past but changes the future

and fills it with endless love.

To forgive is to really remember

That God's love for us is greater than we can imagine

That we have room in our hearts to

Begin again, and again, and again.

To all the students who are making the Sacrament of  Reconciliation in the next coming week may the blessing of forgiveness enlighten your heart and bring you joy.

We thank Fr Charles for his kindness and generosity in celebrating this Sacrament with us.

We would like to thank all those involved in helping to prepare all the students to

present for this celebration especially Mr Con, Mrs Gersolimo, Rebecca and Pam.

Dear Parents And Carers,

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s day and spent quality time with your families and friends.

Staffing News

Danae Swinburne has been at St Kevin’s for three and a half years and worked in the area of Performing Arts, ICT, elearning and classroom teaching. She has an incredible asset during her time with us especially during Remote learning supporting students, staff and parents with all the learning components associated with Remote learning.  I have heard all about her wonderful work in Performing Arts, especially with the Lion King Production. Danae is an innovative and engaging teacher and I have really enjoyed all the Story music and drama sessions this Semester. I wish her well in her future endeavours.

Vanessa Low has worked at St Kevin’s teaching Mandarin and Science with the CLIL approach for the past  three and a half years.  She is a passionate teacher who has been creative with this teaching approach.  I wish Vanessa all the very best with her future teaching.

I thank both Danae and Vanessa for all they have given to St Kevin’s and may God bless them both in their new adventures.

I will be advertising for these positions both externally and internally.

Taliah Postans will graduate at the end of this semester at ACU and will be a qualified teacher.  She has decided to travel and teach overseas for the rest of this year. Taliah has been at St Kevin’s for  and has been an amazing dedicated Learning Support Officer.   At the moment she is completing her last teaching round but will return to St Kevin’s in two weeks.

Thank you for all your patience and work. You have such a  professional approach to support students and staff.

Last week Eva and I appointed two new Learning Support Officers (LSO) who will commence work this week.

Emily Yates is going to be a fulltime LSO and she is studying teaching at the moment.  It is with great pleasure that we welcome Emily to St Kevin’s community. The students and staff are going to enjoy working and learning with Emily. She comes with great experience in Catholic schools and she is excited to meet and get to know everyone.

Somayeh Hejazizadeh has just completed her contact hours required to become a qualified LSO.  Somayeh has worked with children in different capacities and is keen to continue learning with us.  She has been committed and assisted many students during her time St Kevin’s.  Now she will return as a part time LSO and continue to help students and staff in and out of the classroom.

Award for our Parent Volunteers

On the holidays I received an email from Manningham Council about nominating Volunteers for an award.  I completed applications for nomination of two members of our parent community Suzanne Connelly for her work with PFA and Gina Zammit for her work with Tuckshop. They will be recognised at a ceremony at Manningham Council on Wednesday.

Eva and I will attend this service.

Congratulations Ladies and thank you for your generosity, time and all your efforts to assist and support St Kevin’s students and staff!

PLEASE SERIOUSLY CONSIDER ASSISTING THE PFA AND SAC WITH SAUSAGE SIZZLE AND CAKE STALL! EVERYONE LITTLE BIT HELPS OUR STUDENTS

ATTENTION Front Gates will be locked after morning duty and open in the afternoon

All parents will need to bring students to the office if they are running late.

This is a child safe issue and staff on duty in the afternoon will need to open gates at 3:15pm.

INDUCTION MODULE - CHILD SAFE STANDARDS

I presented the  St Kevin’s Induction Module to the SAC on Tuesday evening.  After consultation a few items need to be modified as well as ensuring that the New Child Safe Standards are aligned to this survey.

The revised Child Safe Standards will be operational from the 1st of July.

Staff and parents will be provided with ongoing professional development in this area.  We will launch these and have a parent information session soon.
