Principal's Page

Dear Parents and Carers,

Sunday is the Fifth Sunday of Lent. The following Sunday is known as Palm Sunday and marks the beginning of Holy Week.

The first week of the school holidays during Holy Week. Over the last two weeks of the term, the children will learn about some of the events of Holy Week leading up to Jesus’ death and resurrection. However, their greatest learning will come from you as their parents. How you engage in Holy Week and Easter will be the ultimate message they take from this special season.

Children love Easter and with a sound connection to our Catholic faith, they are able to understand its true meaning and grow in faith. Otherwise, it is just about getting chocolate eggs and bunnies. As much fun as that is, and believe me I am a big fan of such things, it does not give them a solid foundation on which to build their lives. A foundation built on chocolate will quickly melt away when the heat is on. On the other hand, a foundation built on hope and the belief that no matter what, they are loved, and are always invited to new beginnings when experiencing the painful moments in life, will provide some of what is needed during life’s challenges.

Next week, we will begin the school day with a focus on the events of Jesus' passion and death during our usual morning whole school prayer. Parents are very welcome to join the Monday to Wednesday morning assemblies next week - usually only around 10-15 minutes long.
