French News

Bonjour Dear Families!

The students in Year 1 and 2 were very excited during the last two weeks. They have become more confident speaking French and engaged in more activities and songs.

In Inquiry, the children engaged in making crêpes (French pancakes). They knew how to name the equipment (les ustensiles), the ingredients (les ingrédients) and the 5 steps (les 5 étapes).

They have also chosen they favourite toppings (leur garniture préférée) among: honey (le miel), jam (la confiture), chocolate (le chocolat), bananas (les bananes) and sugar (le sucre).

In Literacy, we’ve continued doing reading groups to improve our French reading and started to learn about writing a letter to a friend talking about our family, hobbies and asking him/her questions too. We also know what are the features of a letter such as, the date (la date) salutation (la formule de salutation), ending (formule de politesse) and the signature (la signature).

In Phonics, we have been revising the sounds AN/EN such as in “panda et menton” and É such as “éléphant, bananier, nez ….”

In Mathématiques, we learnt about statistics and data. The students learnt how to collect data and gather them in a graph (graphique) They had to ask a question in French to their friends ( Est-ce que tu aimes/préfère….?) choosing four different options of their choice (animaux, fruits, légumes etc…) and at the end say which option the majority (la majorité) and the minority ( la minorité) of the class like.

Bonnes vacances !
