GRIP Student Leadership Conference

On the 24th of March 2022, the JSC and School Captains went to the GRIP Leadership Conference. It focused on how to be a great leader and how to develop your skills as a leader. The teachers who came along were Mr Hudson and Ms Capsalis. They thought it was a great opportunity for our school to meet leaders from other schools. Also the presentation was very exciting and informative. It kept the students engaged during the conference.

The student’s favorite part was the 'Loud Noise Boys'. They came once every session for ten to fifteen minutes. When the 'Loud Noise Boys' came we played games like Karaoke, ‘Guess what object that is making the sound is’, and they choose a few people to do a play. After every activity there was something for us to learn about. For example, the play taught us not to cheat and lie just to get a good grade.

At the GRIP leadership conference we learnt what STEP up means:

Serve others

Take initiative

Encourage

Purpose

We also had to interact with other schools, and there were quizs to complete and other activities throughout the conference.

To be a leader we need GRIP skills, that means we need to have:

G for Generosity, R for Responsibility, I for Integrity, and P for People skills.

At the end of the conference we all had a wonderful day and we learnt a lot.
