Assistant Principal's Report

Welcome back to students, parents and staff after the September/October term break.  We hope that everyone has returned refreshed and ready for a challenging and rewarding Term 4.

School Uniform

In term 4 we will be refocusing on our school pride where will be concentrating on our school uniform compliance. Over the next few weeks non approved school uniform items will be confiscated. These items could be jewellery, hoodies, and scarves etc. students will then be given a consequence for these infringements.  At the same time, we will recognise those students who show pride in the College by wearing the correct  uniform and they will be praised accordingly.

Year 9 City Experience

This coming week is the start of the Year 9 City Discovery week where students get to experience and discover our great city ‘Melbourne'.

The week is all about gaining confidence and  independence as well as developing some new skills whilst investigating. Students are encouraged  to make the most of the  opportunity to take in all these new experiences.

Wishing all the Year 9 students a memorable and rewarding  week!

Year 12 Celebrations

Our Year 12 students celebrated their final days of their formal schooling with themed dress-ups and the Year 12 Assembly, which was held on Tuesday 23rd October. A big thank you to Laura Frazer and her student leadership team in preparing a fantastic assembly.

These are important rites of passage which help students acknowledge and reflect upon a key stage in their life as well as prepare for the transition to post-school study, training or employment.  We hope that our Year 12 cohort enjoys this time and celebrates safely and responsibly.

At the same time Year 12 students are working hard in terms of preparing for the Exams which start on the 31st October.  We encourage all students to use this time wisely and effectively and to strive to achieve their best.  We also wish them well for their future endeavours.

Art Show

In week two we celebrated the annual Art show which was a fantastic way to showcase our students’ talents.  The installation of the art in the new performing arts centre was visually interesting and a great venue for the audience to interact with the work and each other. As usual the challenge of selecting prize winners was enormous. It was a privilege to be a part of the Greensborough College for this traditional event.

A big thank you to the Arts team, led by Meegan Triance, for their work in putting together the show and teaching our students these fantastic skills.

2019 College Leaders

Last week  Laura Frazer, the Principal and myself had the opportunity to interview the Year 11’s who had applied for a school leadership position for 2019. It was a very positive experience that made us all feel proud of our students. All the students showed enthusiasm for the schools vision. We are very excited about 2019.

Laura Frazer announces the Student Leadership further on in this edition.
