Swing, Swing, Swing Swing!

An historic first for the College Music Department has been established with the Jazz Combo hitting the road and joining the phenomenon that is Generations in Jazz.  Over 4500 student Jazz musicians and hundreds of teachers and professional jazz musicians congregated in what is officially the largest marque in South Australia- at The Barn, Mt Gambier.  School Jazz bands travelled from across Australia and for the first time, from overseas, New Zealand. Featured on the international list of performers were Wycliffe Gordon and the 1 o’clock Lab Band from Texas.  Hamilton and Alexandra College students performed admirably and eagerly consumed jazz from vocalists including The Idea of North and Kate Cerbrano and instrumentalists ranging from Sousaphonists to Soprano Trombonists.
