Teaching and Learning
The Year 7 to 10 Semester One Examinations will be held on Friday 27th, Monday 30th and Tuesday 31st May. Please refer to the attached timetable.
Year 11 Semester One Examinations are scheduled from Friday 27th May through to Wednesday 1st June. Please refer to the attached timetable.
The examinations are not only an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning but to also gain practice performing within a limited time frame in preparation for the VCE and beyond. During the examination period normal classes are suspended and we run an examination timetable which is attached to this newsletter. Students are given guidelines from each subject teacher about what they should revise in preparation for the examinations. Now is the time that students should be organising themselves with revision notes and seeking assistance from teachers if they require assistance in any specific area of study.
A letter will be sent home to all Year 11 parents requesting the details of times that your son/daughter may be planning to study at home during the examination period. Please return the slip at the bottom of the letter to Miss Waldron by Monday 23rd May. Year 11 students who are studying a Unit 3&4 subject must continue to attend these classes if the timetable permits.

There is great excitement in the Science Centre with the arrival of six new “pets”. We have acquired 3 small and 3 medium hermit crabs of the species Coenobita variabilis. These animals will provide learning opportunities in relation to crustacean characteristics, habitat requirements, behavioural studies and animal husbandry. Hermit crabs are adventurous and curious and will also provide entertainment as they explore their new home.
These little creatures have been set up in a brand new enclosure that provides the ideal warm, humid conditions typical of their natural tropical habitat. It is so cosy, in fact, that we have often wanted to crawl inside and enjoy the tropical warmth! Feel free to pop in to say hello to our new additions.
We have also had the pleasure of welcoming a pre-service teacher to the Science Department. Ms Lynne Nadebaum is currently on a four week placement, teaching and observing in various Science classes. Her expertise in the field of Veterinary Science has been highly valued by our Biology students.
