The term is rolling on and the Senior Campus students are getting into the serious part of the year with their studies; visits to the library for a wide range of reasons have increased! Junior Campus students continue to learn new skills in their library lessons across general literacy and information literacy based skills.
Electronic Resources available 24/7
With the increasing use of technology in our class rooms it has been important for our resourcing to keep pace. There are a number of online resources that work across platforms which are accessible anywhere and anytime.
These include:
- e-Chalk username: hamiltoncollege password: talented which has activities suited to ages 4 to adult covering a wide range of topics.
- World Book Online login: thaac password: college.
- Ebscohost: a data base containing material for lower secondary right through to peer reviewed material suitable for post-graduate study – just click the link.
- Wheelers ePlatformOne (students and staff only): to use our electronic reading library you need to download the ePlatform app from the Apple store; Google Play or Microsoft store (see image at left). Once you have the app, search for our library as the Hamilton and Alexandra College. Sign in with your College username and password. Currently the only books on here are relevant to Year 6 and older. Obviously this will alter as device access alters in the future.
- Gale Infobase data bases for history:

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge Update
All students up to Year 9 level are now enrolled. At the time of writing years Foundation through to Year 4 should have brought home their information sheets with their username and password. Please advise if this hasn’t reached you. Years 5 - 7 will receive theirs this week.

Well, after a lot of time spent clicking away on a computer, all of the students from Piccino to Year 10 are registered for the Premiers’ Reading Challenge for 2016. Notes should be arriving home this week regarding your child's registration including username and password. There is lots of time before the challenge ends, but don't leave it until the last minute - start reading now! Also, in relation to this, we are still receiving entries for the "Show The World How You Read - Together" photo competition. See the attached poster for more information. The Junior Library blog has also had a name change! The new blog name is (drum roll please...) "The Wise Owls Blog." The winner of the naming competition was Olivia Mann and she will be receiving a book voucher for her winning entry. Log onto the Junior Library Blog to see the new name and also check in with what has been going on in library land.
