School Review

Last week we concluded our school review. This review process began in Term 4 2020 with the gathering and analysing of data, and updating of school policies and procedures. In Term 1 we formed our panel and held several meetings, interviews with leaders, teachers, students, and parents. The final report is currently being finalised and we will share this with the community when it becomes available. Some of the early findings of the panel were:

  • Numurkah Primary School’s Wellbeing and Intervention provision was a strength of the school. The school had invested resources into the strategic development and staffing of the Wellbeing team, and students and teachers explained that issues were dealt with promptly, and there were “high levels of trust” that issues would be solved.
  • The Establishment of a school-wide reading Culture
  • Teacher Professional Development. All staff at Numurkah Primary School were expected to learners themselves so they would continue to build their skills to meet the needs of students. The school had invested in professional learning to support the use of student data, and to have more robust discussions about what was required for groups and individual students. This included more triangulation of data sets and moderation of student work.
  • The Panel noted the calm, orderly and productive working environment at the school, and considered the elements of the positive culture and climate within Numurkah Primary School.

Finally, it has been a very busy and rewarding term with our focus firmly on learning growth. In our classrooms and intervention groups, we have worked towards every student achieving growth whether they be below, at, or above standard. Looking at our terms data I can see that many students have really zoomed ahead in their learning. Great Effort by all - teachers, students, and parents!

I wish everyone a safe and relaxing Easter holiday break and look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 2.
