Prep Celebration of Learning

On Tuesday our Prep students and parents gathered in the quadrangle to celebrate their first term at school. The students performed their ‘bunny’ song and presented each other

with certificates and buckets.

These buckets signified that all of our Prep students are ‘bucket fillers’ by the way they interact and work together.

Resilience Project Parent Evening

Just a reminder to keep the evening of Tuesday 27th April free. All parents are invited to the parent session hosted by Hugh van Cuylenburg (Resilience Project) from 6:30-7:30pm. This will be a face to face session. The venue is to be advised.

We require numbers attending to secure an adequate venue, so please respond to the note on Operoo before Monday 19th April.

The Resilience Project delivers emotionally engaging programs to schools, sports clubs and businesses and provide them with evidence based, practical strategies to build resilience and happiness. The Resilience Project has delivered programs to over 1000 schools around the country and worked with many elite sporting teams including Australian cricket, netball and soccer, NRL and AFL clubs. Through presentations, wellbeing journals, schools curriculum, teacher diaries and their App, The Resilience Project seeks to help all Australians become mentally healthy.

Programs offered by The Resilience Project are based on the following strategies:

Gratitude - Appreciating what you have, not begrudging what you don’t.
Empathy - Thinking of the needs of others/kindness.
Mindfulness - Being present in the moment, not becoming distracted by unhelpful or negative thoughts.

During this presentation, Hugh will share his experiences and combine them with practical strategies that can be implemented everyday to improve our overall wellbeing.

Annual School Sports

We had a wonderful day last Friday for our School Sports. Thank you to Susan Michelsson for organising and running the events on the day. This day would not be possible without the support of our teachers, administration staff and learning support officers. We hope you had a fabulous day cheering your child/ren on.

Congratulations to all of the students for displaying great sportspersonship and having a go at all of the events. You were amazing!

Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences

Thank you to our staff and parents for engaging in our Term 1 Parent/Teacher Conferences this week.

Term 2 Mobile Phones at school permission

All parents of students in Years 3-6 should have received a permission note to complete via Operoo in regards to mobile phones coming to school in Term 2. In accordance with our school Mobile Phone Policy, all phone ‘devices’ (including smart watches) entering school grounds need to be identified through this process. We ask all parents to please complete this form by Monday 19th April.

Parents and Friends Fundraising Efforts

On behalf of our students I would like to thank our Parent and Friends Committee for your efforts this term.

This group of parents have raised about $11,600 (Colour Run, Kid’s Cafe and Second Hand Uniform Sales) which will go towards our continued playground redevelopment.

Parents and Friends Mother’s Day Stall

Mother’s Day Stall – Tuesday 4th May

The Mother’s Day Stall will take place on Tuesday 4th May for the children to buy something special for Mum, Nanna or a special friend.

At this year’s stall there will be two price points - $2 and $4. Your child will still be able to bring our recommended amount of $6 and they will be able to purchase either 2 gifts or 3 gifts. However, this amount is a guide only and your family can decide how many gifts; how much money you would like to spend; and at what price point.

Payments can be made now through CDFPay – hfmw.cdfpay.org.au. You will be able to select either $2 or $4 tokens and choose the number of tokens you would like to purchase. As a guide we recommend children purchasing up to 3 gifts.

We will have further information at the beginning of Term 2.

There will be no assembly on our first day of Term 2. Our first assembly will be held on Monday 26th April.

Holy Family Enrolments for Prep 2022

School Open Day

Let your neighbours, friends and relatives know that 2022 enrolments are OPEN.

Early enrolment assists us greatly with 2022 planning.

EVERY DAY IS OPEN DAY

Tours are also available on any school day throughout the year by appointment.

We request that parents already with children in the school enrol as early as possible.

‘Unexplained Student Absence’ - Notifying the School Office of Student Absences

It is essential that parents contact the school either by phone, from 8am, via email - office@hfmw.catholic.edu.au, or via the Skoolbag App, if your child will be absent from school. Parents who do not contact the school will be phoned throughout the day seeking clarity on the whereabouts of their child.

As a means of saving our administration team from making multiple phone calls we ask that parents contact the school to advise of student absences. If a child is to be absent for a number of days then parents are asked to advise the class teacher of an extended time of absence. This may be applicable to family holidays, extended periods of illness etc.

This process has been put in place as a matter of safety for the children in our care. We thank parents for your support of this new procedure.
