Miss Considine

All of a sudden Holy Week is upon us again. The feeling this week though is so different from last year when there were no planned holidays in sight or ability to celebrate with loved ones. For me personally there is an added joy of singing at the Easter Triduum with my parish present instead of to a camera live streamed to those at home on the TV.

Unlike last year, the joy that comes from Easter is in the air.

I wonder what you are grateful for? I wonder what family traditions you resurrected this year and what new ones you are creating?

Take some time to talk about the easter story with your family, how does it relate to you today? What meaning are you taking from Holy Week this year?

At school this week we celebrated through 2 liturgies, one on Monday to commemorate Palm Sunday and another this morning to celebrate Holy Thursday and the stations of the Cross. It was lovely to see the students all involved over the week with some meaningful activities and prayer services.

I have edited a resource I gave last year to families please feel free to use and discuss over the weekend.

First Eucharist Reflections

We celebrated our communion Saturday 20th March and Sunday 21st of March. Everybody really enjoyed celebrating this special day. It was a really big achievement for us. We thank the teachers and father Justel for helping us on the reflection day and also the actual day.

All the reflection day activities really helped us a lot to understand the meaning of the Eucharist and how special it really is. We all felt like we learned a lot.

On the actual Communion day all of us were really excited. All of us really had a great time. It was a great experience and achievement in our life. A lot of people were excited to go and walk up to the Eucharist to eat the body of Christ for the very first time. Again we want to acknowledge the teachers and father Justell for helping and supporting us.

When I stepped into the church my face glowed and I couldn't stop smiling. My family and I walked in and found a seat. I was so excited I couldn't stay still. When Priest Justel started talking it felt like I had butterflies in my stomach, 3 minutes later it was finally time to  receive Eucharist. I got into the line to get the body of Christ for the very first time but when I finally got it I was so nervous that I turned and went the wrong way. It tasted like ice cream cones at Mcdonalds and then Priest Justel congratulated us which was very nice and then it was over!

My Communion Reflection

Last week I had my first Communion. I was really excited to be there. As soon as we came outside the church I was fulfilled with joy. I met all my family there and noticed a few friends. Everyone looked amazing! Once we went in the church we were to walk to the pews in a line.

I was waiting for the first exciting moment. (The readings) We all got up from our pews and bowed to the priest. I went up the front and read out the second reading.

We went back to our pew and did a few prayers and reflections on Moses. Once the prayers were finished we were all called to eat the host. I was so excited for the moment to come. I went in the line, bowed to the person in front of me, pulled out my hands for the host. “The body of Christ” The Priest said. “Amen” I said.

I ate the host. I was a part of Jesus.
