'Do you have something you want to say to the world? Is there an issue you’re passionate about? Do you know an inspiring story you want to share? Here’s your chance to be heard.
Jesuit Communications Australia (Jescom) has launched the Young Voices Awards, offering students around Australia the chance to advocate on issues of importance to them. The Awards, open to all students around the country, have evolved from the Australian Catholics Young Journalist Awards, run by Jescom through Australian Catholics magazine for the past 25 years. The Awards this year expand to recognise a wider range of media including poetry, photography, video and audio as well as written-form journalism.
Sponsored by long-time Young Journalist Awards sponsor Australian Catholic University (ACU), the Awards give primary and secondary school students around the country a voice - and the opportunity to be published in the largest circulation Catholic print publication in the country. Winning entries also feature on Australian Catholics digital channels.'

As we enter our Easter break don't forget to continue reading. This is a simple yet effective way to ensure the reading skills acquired throughout Term 1 can be practised and consolidated.
You can continue to support your child's Maths skill over the holidays by engaging in regular opportunities for Maths. This can include real-life experiences (planning a day trip, reading time tables for public transport, or calculating the length of the newest movie!)
Your child can also continue to practice their Maths skills using the Essential Assessment platform. The platform has two features 'Sunset Maths' (automatic recall of number facts) and 'My Numeracy' (tasks which revise skills taught this Term). These two features are adapted in different year levels, depending on current foci. If you have any questions about using the platform, please feel free to contact your child's Homeroom Teacher and/or myself - Emma Sbizzirri (esbizzirri@srprestonwest.catholic.edu.au).
