Holy Thursday

“The washing of the feet and the sacrament of the Eucharist: two expressions of one and the same mystery of love entrusted to the disciples, so that, Jesus says, ‘as I have done… so also must you do.’

(Jn 13:15).” - Pope St. John Paul II

On this day, our Lord washed the feet of His disciples, explaining his action by saying: "If I your Lord and Master have washed your feet, how much more ought you to wash one another's feet" (John 13:14).

On Holy Thursday, Jesus demonstrated to his people how we should 'serve one another'. Today, the Lord asks us to participate and recreate acts of service.

Holy Thursday is also the commemoration of the Passover Meal- The Last Supper. The Last Supper  feast demonstrates how this meal connects us with Christ and His disciples.

In contrast with the other days of Holy Week, the Holy Thursday feast has a joyous tone throughout. It is a moment of celebration and makes us relate the events of that night to the Holy Mass service that we experience in today's times.
