I found this competition through Marie Claire magazine. You get to design an "outfit of dreams" for Barbie. The winning design will be custom made by designer Karen Walker! Entries close 12 April.
Entry form and details here: https://www.marieclaire.com.au/barbie-x-karen-walker
Come and see me for a template to design your outfit.
Ask your parents for permission before completing the entry form.
The Art Room still needs your old sauce bottle tops with a nozzle - like the ones from a tomato sauce bottle. I discovered that these caps fit perfectly onto our 2L paint bottles and make it much easier to dispense paint in the classroom. Please save your sauce bottle caps and bring them into the Art Room :)
At the end of last year, some staff members took part in a clay workshop I organised. We used symbols from Aboriginal culture to represent the journey that was 2020. The tiles have been fired and glazed, and will be going on display in the school very soon.
The Foundation students are completing a series of lessons that focus on the elements and principles of art. They have done a study of lines and created a colorful page of different lines using the wax resist technique. Their next activity will be to create a pattern using the primary colours.
The Year 1/2s Sunflower collages are now completed and some are on display in the school. The students are currently completing a set of activities all relating to the element of texture to finish the term.
Almost all the Year 3/4 students have completed their Circus Figures In Motion sculpture. The last step involved is to add finishing touches - like clothes and hair. The sculptures all look fabulous! I think the children really enjoyed the process and produced something they are proud of. The completed figures are on display in the office and the art room.
The Year 5/6 students have been looking at the work of folk artist Maria Prymachenko, and completing a folk art drawing of their own. Their task was to capture the naive style of Prymachenko's work - but were limited to black and white. The drawings look very striking when displayed altogether, and each one is curious when viewed alone. Over the holidays, I will be taking the students' clay pinch pots to be fired - ready for glazing next term.
I would like to thank all the parents and students for a wonderful term. I can't wait to start some new art projects after the holidays. Have a safe and happy Easter!
