Year 3/4 News
Happy Holidays!

Writing
Over the last few weeks, students have begun learning about persuasive texts. They are currently working on planning, writing, rehearsing and presenting their oral persuasive pieces. They are learning about how to use different persuasive devices, such as rhetorical questions and emotive language, and how to support their arguments with evidence. They are also learning how to present their arguments to the class using expression, reading with fluency and convincing their classmates of their point of view. We will be continuing persuasive writing into Term 2, exploring different persuasive text types.
Maths
Maths
Over the last two weeks, students have been exploring Length. Students have measured, ordered and compared objects using familiar metric units of length (mm, cm, m & km) and used a range of scaled instruments to measure lengths. Students recognised that some units of measurement are better suited for some tasks than others, eg. kilometres rather than metres, to measure the distance between two suburbs and explored the concept of perimeter. Our first unit of Term 2 will be Multiplication and Division.
Italian
Students in Year 3/4 have been enjoying their Italian sessions with Signora Anna. Students have been revising high-frequency functional words and phrases as well as their corresponding gestures. They are now attempting to make their own sentences for spontaneous communication with their classmates!

Learning Intentions for Week 1 & 2 in Term 2 have not been included in this edition of the newsletter. Teachers will be working on these this week and throughout the holidays. Instead, Learning Intentions will be posted via Skoolbag, Monday 19th April.
